Beast Attacks

Late in the year 902 and into 903 the Pillai, Dalcimeer, and Equil borders have been suffering a number of beast attacks. Livestock have been found mauled and eaten and numerous farmers have either gone missing or been found dead.
There were tales of other attacks in other countries, one alledged beast attack was at sea near Kahzara causing a ship washed on shore.
Recent events have attributed the attacks to a creature named by an unknown source as the Bettenoir.
The creature appears to be in reality a disease which, one it infects a victim turns them into a monster. The creatures thus far identified have been covered in black fur and have a wolf or demon like face depending on the witness report.
While it was initially claimed that the creatures are impossible to kill, two of the beasts were slain in Pillai by a party of Emperor Borton Morr's own men led by his Huntsman and Father Jinir. The cost of killing these creatures was apparantly high.
Work is underway by parties from both Pillai and Dalcimeer to find a cure for the disease.
It would seem that now as last year the cold weather has brought a stop to the attacks. But is it just the cold that stopped the beasts, or something more?
