Citizen Kaine is the title given to the nominal leader of Equil another is First Citizen. A Citizen Kaine is the People's Representative on the Equilonnian Council. All Kaine's are chosen by the Travelling Man usually through Equil's Pope.
Since Equil was founded there have been 16 Citizen Kaines not including the latest Kaine.
The previous Kaines are known through the legacy of Kaines
The Current Kaine
Little is known about the current Kaine. What is known or speculated upon is as follows
It is said he was born to the Stone Founding Family. The most common reason for this speculation is the nature of his skin as all Stones have differing skin tones. He was a soldier who served in the Chevellian war.
Like all the previous Kaine's he has a tendency to scheme and plot. Some put this down to the influence of the Travelling Man, others that the Travelling Man only picks the schemers of the world. He is fond of disguises and uses them whenever he can. Those he has used in the past have been a pilgrim, an old woman a pirate captain and a soldier.
This leads people to believe that his persona he shows in public is not his real persona. His frivolous nature, his lack of seriousness is another disguise. The only one who may know the true Kaine is his new wife, the First Lady of Equil, Avelina.
He has been prone to many illnesses over the years.
