History

Extract from “A History of Equil – Equality from Adversity By Citizen Amel-iel '

“Before Equil there was The Waste. A harsh reminder of the Great War was The Waste, in it the air was poisonous, the water death to drink, the land barren and Beings that Should Not Be wandered across the desolate landscape. Amidst this Bandits lived and preyed upon neighbouring countries.

Yet from The Waste came The Travelling Man, a hermit so it was said. He made an offer to all in the Bandit Tribes. Change and redeem their ways or face the consequences. All but a few accepted the Travelling Man’s offer but it was enough.

The Travelling Man set about the restoration of the land, in the ground he fixed his Travelling Staff and the devastation receded. The ones that accepted the Travelling Man’s offer rejoiced. The others vanished without a trace.

The leader of this small band was called Kaine. After many years of travelling themselves they settled in an area shown to Kaine by the Travelling Man in a dream. Kaine declared all be Equal in the lands, renaming the land Equil and the place Refuge.

So it stands today, the original settlement of Kaine and his people, the many families that accepted the Travelling Man’s offer. Though they wanted to call him Lord or King, Kaine could not accept such a title. Instead he named himself and all that would settle in the Lands, Citizen.

So it stands today. There is still a Citizen Kaine that rules Equil, guided by the Council. Equil has no borders other than those imposed by the other countries. Equil is a young land seeped in a disturbing, haunted past. The land and people are intrinsically linked, both having drastically changed to arise from the ashes of despair.

Equil is now the diplomacy of the Dalcimeer, the strength of the Pillai, the resilience of the Kahzarans. It is these and more, why? Because Equil is the Nation of Nations, all races are represented from every aspect of the known world.

Equil is truly the representation of Liberty, of Freedom, of Neutrality. It has thrown off the shackles of banditry, strived in the adversity of the land and stands amidst the world as a beacon of hope and redemption.
