God of War

Dariss is the god of war. It is believed that the Dariss represents both sides of war equally and only pursues conflict to gain peace.
After the goddess Tempress turned against her fellow deities and created the World of Tempress, each of the six remaining gods, often referred to as the prime deities, chose to take up an aspect of life to watch over. Dariss chose war and peace.

Worshipers

As with all deities, the worshipers of Dariss come in a variety of forms.
Typically, clerics and paladins of Dariss are experts in combat. This is not always confined to physical prowess, and many devotees are excellent strategists. But, clerics often use combative magic against foes, spells that make them and their allies stronger and healing to ensure the fight can be continued.
Dariss often acts as the patron for soldiers and mercenaries. As such, Dariss is the primary deity worshiped in Helvettia.
Stereotypical principles within Dariss followers include: fighting honorably, achieving victory when the odds are poor and a reluctance to flee from a fight.
Red, black and white are the colours most frequently adorned by Dariss worshipers.
For our Into the Wilds D&D games, you can have a character of any class follow the Piety Path - Dariss, in order to get the God of War's favour.

Temples

Temples, churches and houses of worship devoted to Dariss are often of simple design. Though temples are important, most who worship Dariss do it through their actions in combat or war, rather than in the sanctuaries devoted to their god. Instead, churches of Dariss are typically used for preparing ones body and mind for conflict and healing those injured or fallen.
A traditional temple is often characterised by a simple stone or wooden alter at the far end of the room, wooden pews for devotees and a sand pit for who wish to praise Dariss. More elaborate designs usually contain statues, tapestries and weapons depicting great soldiers, battles and wars that should be remembered and researched.

History

The Peacemaker General was an avatar of Dariss that caused the Peacemaker War.
Having taken up the mantle of "War God" it was believed that an Avatar of Dariss began the chain of events that led to the War of Divinity between mages and priests.
