Bern

From Into the Wilds Wiki

Bern is a hag. Despite her fiendish nature, many of the Myste-Hass adventurers have come to work with Bern on a number of occasions.
Bern usually lives in a hut on the south-eastern corner of the coast, before the estuary. There is a stone circle near her hut which Bern has been known to use in conjunction with spells like plane shift.
Typically, Bern only works with the adventurers for an exchange of services.
Bern is the daughter of Mother. She refers to other known hags, specifically Tabby, as her sisters. Whether or not this relationship is biological is unknown. However, she has indicated that she has "relatives" in Anglan.
Bern is known for changing her form. On meeting her, she appeared like a friendly old women, but her physical appearance did not match this pleasant exterior. Her new attractive appearance, as a result of the body-growing artifact, appears to be her true looks currently.
Bern can "ride people's dreams", as she put it. She can influence and witness the dreams experienced by sleeping people. She has used this technique to call for help on a number of occasions.

Significant Events with Bern

Bern agreed to transport a party of adventurers inside the Kraken Greataxe in order to save C'anis's soul from The Watcher. On destroying the foe, the axe was destroyed and souls trapped in the wasteland released without bodies. Bern's soul became trapped in Gartok's empty God-Killer Mace.
Using Bern's planeshift ability, a group then transported to Anglan in order to find an artifact, described as a vase or urn, which can recreate a body. On retrieval, Bern used this artifact to grow herself a much more attractive form.
Bern has a particular interest in Kellen. She seems to be helping him, but the purpose of her actions is uncertain.
Talking of her mother, Treloch, Bern said - "She creates and creates. I would see her dead. She is a bad sort. There is a place between the planes. She overused the stone too quickly and it opened gaps between the planes. The fiends slipped in from here."
We believe that Bern lied to the adventurers, telling us that the soul of Susnos was being kept in a Soul Jar within Xafiq's Lair, but, on opening the jar, we didn’t release Susnos but something else.
Bern said that she would offer Harbinger a deal if she could be in her head whilst Fate spoke to her.
