Halls of Reflection

From Into the Wilds Wiki

The adventurers of Myste-Hass have had several dealings with magical mirrors that grant access to some form of mirror plane. This location appears like a complex building filled with mirrors that access other places and lands, when you activate them with the correct arcane word.
When you enter the Halls of Reflection, a copy of you enters through a mirror on the opposite side of the plane. They appear identical, accept they have reversed values and are filled with a need to kill their original and assume their place. Sometimes these mirrored versions have a slight, mirrored-sheen to their eyes.
It seems that, once you have killed your doppelganger, they do not generate again if you enter the Halls of Reflection anew.

Mirror Portals

There are a collection of magical mirrors that can be activated via use of a key word. Once activated, the mirror becomes a portal which can be used as a doorway into the Halls of Reflection. To prevent people from coming through the mirrors, adventurers have laid the mirrors flat on the ground and placed heavy objects on top. Anything that comes through the mirror in this state becomes pulverized on entry into the other plane.
We know the mirror in the main hall of the Fallen Palace can be used to communicate with others mirrors as well as transportation.
The mirrors give off a arcane aura of conjuration.

Known Mirrors

The words that activate the portal are marked in bold.

Outside the Halls of Reflection

  • Sarator - Mirror found in the cave at the lake beyond the Northern Pass. The mirror is oval with a brass trim on the outside. This mirror took the users directly to the mirror in the upper room of the Fallen Palace.
  • Hesano - Mirror in the main hall of the Fallen Palace.
  • Mirror in the upper room of the Fallen Palace.
  • Farrow - This is the mirror in the Temple of the People. It a 7ft tall, wide and simple in design. This was activated by Gilaeon when he was being pursued by adventurers, it allows the user direct access to the Halls of Reflection.

Within the Halls of Reflection

  • Barron - When you enter via Farrow, this is the first mirror on the left. We believe this leads to the tower of the prophet?
  • Kakura - When you enter via Farrow, this is the first mirror on the right. We believe this leads to a place of demons and the void.
  • Kushar - This is the mirror in the sarcophagus room.
  • Tatura - Adventurers were informed that Gilaeon exited the Halls of Reflection via a mirror with the keyword 'Tatura', but we did not locate this mirror.

Harbinger's Notes

Entering the Farrow mirror, the adventurers face an awful monstrosity made from the mushed body parts of mirrored versions of adventurers who had killed their doppelgangers and left the bodies. This creature whispered dark secrets and did lots of psychic damage.
There was another creature, a nothic, who communicated telepathically who gave us most of the information we have. This creature was cursed to look as he was by a women who gave him his abilities, but also his appearance. He sees everything we know. He had sought out a women at the south of the city to give him the ability to see what people though so he could always win at cards. The last he saw of the women, she was in the mountains. He fell asleep and awoke in the Halls of Reflection.
He knew that Til was being pursued by a naga.
The nothic said that people go through Barron to ask about their future from the prophet.
The adventurers agreed to spare the nothic because he said that he'll tell them what the people who passed through were thinking.
The nothic said that The Harbinger of Fate and Gilaeon used a secret door at the back of the chamber.
There are eight mirrors and lots of secret doors. The entry room is about 1/12th the size of the complex.
Morthel was trying to use the mirrors, because he couldn't bring the goliath south in any other way.
The Harbinger of Fate Two was a copy. His mirrored doppelganger defeated him and assumed the role.
Gilaeon controlled The Harbinger of Fate Two with the magical armour.
When the adventurers return, the entire place has been tidied and cleaned of blood. The cracks in the mirror have been fixed and the the mirrors rehung. There was a note stating ‘Dear Friends, This is my domain. I will tolerate you trespass only so far. Of course, Rasvyn and Dramos are always welcome. M’
Exploration reveals a room with a bottle/urn which Ulborin knocks over. This releases a genie-like creature called, Tutani. He says he was cursed by a women who meddles too much. He claims to come from somewhere else, with beautiful greenery, possibly the fey wild, and lives in a golden city. Corym gave him the names of - Gartok, Corym, Til, Rasvyn, Dramos, Harbinger and Ulbroin. Tutani says, when he returns to his home, his promise is worth a lot - if the adventurers ever see him again he will owe them each a favour.
A broken bottle seems to be where the creature came from. The label reads ‘A gift, with my compliments - M’
Toni's doppelganger arrives and informs the group that he was contacting an agent of Morthel called Barad. Barad dresses as a poor, beared, unkept fisherman. Toni was being given money to tell Morthel where the adventurers were going. Toni's doppelganger claimed that Til's doppelganger had been killed already, turned into a form of dust.
Knowing only one of the Tonis could leave the Halls, Dramos makes the difficult choice to kill Toni one for his treachery. The adventurers take Toni's doppelganger back with them.
